Frysmith Review By LA Street Food

French fries are ready for their close-up.
Posted on: Sun, Mar 7 2010

French fries are the Don Cheadle of the comfort food world - a great supporting act that  never gets its due. That is until this gourmet food truck, which makes fries meals onto themselves. Each $5 entree starts with a base of hand-cut, canola-oil fried Kennebec potatoes (or sweet potatoes). The taters are then topped with a heap of fresh, organic-free range ingredients that are supposed to make you feel less guilty.

Okay, fat chance, but at least your pigging out is good for the environment —“ the food truck runs on fry oil. Favorites include the Rajas fries (fire-roasted poblano chiles, caramelized onions and shawarma-marinated steak with Jack cheese), Kimchi fries with Kurobuta pork belly (the best) and the Angus-beef chili fries (flavored with chocolate and beer).
There’s also a veggie version of the chili cheese and rotating specials. As always you can follow them on Twitter. Now, if we can just find something for Don Cheadle other than “Traitor.”
