Iverson Claps Back On Twitter... Sorta

Posted on: Tue, Mar 9 2010
Two days ago Philadelphia Inquirer sports columnist Stephen A. Smith described Allen Iverson as an athlete in a world of trouble. He claimed Iverson has been banned from Atantic City & Detroit casinos and that the former league MVP has a serious drinking problem.

Smith cited numerous NBA sources are worried that Iverson will either drink his way to his death or gamble his life away.

Iverson began his second stint with the Sixers this year when he wore out his welcome in Memphis and appeared to be back on track. He left the team on December 20th to be with his sick daughter, only to be served divorce papers from his wife Tawanna on March 4th.

The Sixers severed ties with him the same day.

In slight defense of his actions, Iverson took to his Twitter account last night to defend himself, urging his fans to continue to support him through this tough time.

He tweeted:

To my fans: You all know that my life isn’t perfect. I am going through some very tough times right now, like I am sure that we all do from time to time. However, I will stand tall like always with “rhino” thick skin. Even though I have become used to hearing people say things about me that aren’t true, it still hurts. I encourage you to continue your ongoing support and I want you to trust that this is another obstacle in my life that, with God’s help I will overcome. God Bless You All.
